Time to contemplate...

I like the pace of summer. Slow and easy, like Tina singing the opening strains of Proud Mary. It won't get nice and rough until August, when I'm anxious to get back to work and the savings account is dwindling and I start to wake at 3am with panic attacks going nowhere...:)

Right now, it's nice and slow. Time to breath, time to contemplate stuff. Just stuff. Like "am I really where I want to be?". I can tell you with all certainty that in the familial sense, marriage and family and domestic circumstances, I'm exactly where I want to be. I just dropped Kieran off at the airport and he's going to be gone an entire week, far away, and I feel like it will be forever and I can't wait to see him again. Perhaps I'm a little co-dependent and I know that breaks like this are good things, for this very reason. It's good to miss something/someone. It's reaffirming. I often take Kieran for granted and he's pretty amazing so that means I'm pretty spoiled. I like being spoiled. Let's say Blessed instead. It's a nicer word with sweeter connotations.

I'm blessed to be living in Portland, I've said it a million times, this place is amazing. Purple mountains majesty, verdant valleys, shining seas- God Bless Portland, my home sweet home. Sorry, Independence Day always gets me all patriotic and sappy.
Anyhoo- I know I posted most of my Fairy Falls hike photos earlier because I couldn't wait to share them but it bears repeating- The Gorge is an awesome place to talk a walk. The trails are relatively easy, the views are splendiforous, the atmosphere: cool and green and simply transporting in beauty.
