Lazy

I often think of myself as a lazy person.
I haven't written in my blog since May. I hope my foray back into my blog world doesn't suck.

I haven't climbed a single mountain this summer and we're already 7 weeks in. In fact my biggest hiking accomplishment this summer was a return trip to Warrior Rock Lighthouse on Sauvie Island. 6 mile round trip, running all the way to keep from being sucked dry by the hordes of mosquitoes.

I still have an attic full of boxes to unpack and repack. That sounds like an act of futility but truly, it needs to be done. The storage company had the audacity to pack my Christmas nativity with my Easter baskets, my St Patrick's Day pot o' gold with my Thanksgiving Indian corn. Halloween with Mardi Gras. Ok, I can see where there might of been confusion there but seriously?

I also actually have Work work to do which during the summer is doubly oppressive.

And then there is The List.

I hate that freakin' list.

The list of all of the items we lost to the fire and smoke. All of the things we've been attempting to replace. We need to keep up on the list and return it to our insurance adjustor if we want to be reimbursed the full value of our claim. Most of it we just decided "no, we don't need that anymore". Especially when replacing it means noting the item number from the list and recording that on the receipt, then multiply the price by the number of items to be replaced, divide that by the number of items actually lost, subtracting the initial payment blah blah blah. You all know I'm terrible at math. I know the frustration our kids feel at school with those paragraph long word problems on the State Test. It would be better if The List were on the computer, in a program that allowed me to search, sort and tally easier. No, it has to be by hand, copied and mailed or faxed the old fashioned way. The insurance industry is refusing to join the computer age obviously. Sure, they'll give you some reasons that involve "security" and "accountability" pttth. (That's me blowing a raspberry, I just don't know how to spell that sound).

Now that I've vented my newfound fire/insurance frustrations let's get back to the subject at hand. Laziness.

I've been working out, isn't that supposed to energize me?

I can find all sorts of reasons for my lazy nature:
I'm tired from the move (that happened in March)
I'm tired from my daughter's amazing wedding (that happened in June)
I took a trip to Country Faire (July)
I'm "off" work (all summer?)
It's too hot/rainy/gray/muggy/windy/insert adverse weather condition here.

I'm uninspired. Why? This is Oregon for Heaven's sake- there are amazing, interesting people, vistas, food carts everywhere you turn. Uninspired is a truly uninspired reason to be lazy.

Obviously even my excuses for being lazy are lackluster. The true signs of schlepp.

Today may just be the day that I decide to up and finish those projects. I'll repack that attic, continue recording those receipts, finish that database of WEB leaders, fold that mountain of laundry.

Right after this episode of Cooking with Paula Deen and my nap.
