"The battle rages. Laundry waits impatiently on the floor, a sock wrestles it's way free. The couch calls out a comforting plea. The book at my bedstand whispers "me first". I'm arguing with myself again. The laundry will win, rest comes later."
These "small stones" I've been writing are part of an online writing group I've joined with a dual purpose.
First, I've been promising myself I'd write more for some time now. I always find one way or another to ditch my efforts (too short, too verbose, too self-important, too wordy...) This gives me the freedom to write a line or many but focused on one conscious moment.
Secondly, I have been slowly moving towards an attitude that allows a more "in the moment" consciousness. It is a practice that relives stress, increases calm. It improves my sanity because it allows me to grasp what is here and now and release negative thoughts and feelings in a productive, intentional thought process.
Not really New Year Resolutions per se, but a plan of action and a helpful one at that.
