Just what I needed...

Sure, things have been a little rough lately and my moods resemble a Tilt-a -whirl more so than a rollercoaster. (Meaning: I'm spinning)

There is a vicious wind blowing outside right now but I'm actually enjoying it as I sit here all cozy with hot cocoa. I was afraid this morning the wind would foil my plans for a day sledding on Mt. Hood. I know the weather up there has been more wet than snowy and was fully prepared to go racing through the slush but I hate the wind.

I have always hated the wind. I remember laying in my bed as a little girl just listening to it howl. Far more scary than the lightening and thunder that would follow. In California, my friends and I would lay down on the ground at lunchtime to try and avoid the ridiculously powerful Santa Anas. In Arizona, the monstrous rolling red dust cloud from the south meant getting out of the pool (NOW!) thus ruining a perfectly good game of Marco Polo. I can't even count the times the wind has ruined a perfectly good hair day or left me with chapped lips.

So you can tell, the wind has played a critical roll in ruining many of my plans both social and recreational. Today, it threatened to do the same. We didn't go sledding on Mt Hood yesterday because the weathercasters kept crying "Freezing Rain". Well the rains came but the freezing didn't and so I vowed to head up the Barlow Trail this morning.

I am so glad I did. Although there isn't much snow right now, the sky was blue and filled with fluffy white. The air was crisp. Our regular spot on the Barlow Trail was a little crowded but we simply headed up the path aways and found a great spot. We headed home after many great runs, a quick attempt on a Snow Skate, a brutal snowball fight and some delicious pizza at ZigZag Inn (highly recommended).

I love days like this...

except the wind.
